2015 Spring Selling Season in Dallas

If you’ve been paying any attention to the Dallas housing market this past year, it should come to no surprise to you that the Dallas market is hot. But you might be surprised to learn that it is the second hottest market, following only the Atlanta market, according to recent Realtor.com information.

Realtor.com’s findings are based off of the median age of housing inventory (62 days for the Dallas market compared to 103 days for the national average), which shows that buyers are getting ready to dive into the market, and sellers are prepared to take advantage of it.

Due to a 30 percent decrease in housing supply since January 2014, right now the market is tight. The market has a low inventory and a high demand – great for those looking to sell their home, but not so great for those in the market to buy.

So what does the future look like for the Dallas market? Well, for potential buyers, there may be hope on the horizon. The spring selling season is here, and we could soon see the Dallas housing market react. With the market inventory down and the demand up and even growing, we could see an increased number of listings due to more current homeowners keen on benefiting for the current “seller’s market.”
